Sturtevant (B.F.) Company is established.

(Dec.) Founded by Benjamin Sturtevant, the shoe manufacturing company is located initially at 72 Sudbury Street. The company subsequently manufactures exhaust fans and moves to a new building (second) on Amory Street (second) in 1878.* After Sturtevant’s death in 1890, the company is operated by his son-in-law, Eugene Foss. The company moves to Damon Street in 1901.*
